Where and when to see autumn in Japan, 2026
The season runs from 3 November in Sapporo to 11 December in Kyoto.
Tokyo: 26–28 November. Ginkgo Avenue, Yoyogi Park, Hamarikyu and Rikugien.
Kyoto: yellow from 27 November, red by 11 December. The Katsura river in Arashiyama, Tsutenkyo bridge at Tofuku-ji, Eikando, and Okunoin at Kiyomizu-dera.
Osaka: the Minoo waterfall trail, Nishinomaru Garden, and the Japanese garden at Expo Park.
Fuji: the maple corridor and the Koyodai lookout. Hakone: the moss garden at the museum and Gora Park.
